The Covid 19 pandemic is now in a more manageable stage for schools in the United States. However, the impact of the Covid 19 pandemic is still being felt by schools. Many teachers have chosen early retirement or have left the profession because of the stress they experienced during the past two years. Additionally, most states are reporting a significant teacher shortage as well as other staff positions. There is some evidence that the pool of students in teacher preparation programs is also experiencing a decline. This presentation will describe the realities that teachers experienced as they were required to quickly move to online formats with limited training and the stress caused by erratic school schedules and expectations.
